Book now for free Lean Startup masterclasses – this Feb

by Justin Souter on 24 January 2017

Intro

The Lean Startup by Eric RiesYour second opportunity to learn about Lean Startup and apply it to your own idea(s) and business. Read on, or apply now here.

What’s this all about

The following event is run over two days, Feb 8th and 15th. Attendance at both is mandatory. Sessions run from 9-5 each day.

Following the success of last year’s sessions, we’re back with more dates of free Lean Startup Masterclasses.

You may have already heard of The Lean Startup, Business Model Canvas, Minimum Viable Product, Pivots. You may even have already taken a course, but have you fully applied the process?

  • If so, then these masterclasses will take plans and ideas, and turn them into action.
  • If not, you’ll gain an understanding of how this simple process has revolutionised the whole process of business planning and execution.

It’s quick, it’s easy, it’s wonderfully effective.

Consider it as an injection of Dilithium Crystals to simplify and accelerate the growth of your business to warp speed*.

This event is part of ‘Digital Futures’, Generator’s business support programme, is designed to meet the business development needs of the North East’s creative and digital businesses.

This programme is part-funded by England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.

Places at this event are FREE OF CHARGE for creative and digital businesses from North East England, thanks to ERDF funding.**

14 Founder challenges that the Lean Startup framework can help with

In working with Founders, I’ve created the following list to make the benefits of the Lean Startup framework easier to grasp:

  1. How do I get the ideas in my head out of it, and ‘structuralise’ them
  2. How do I create an action plan and ‘chunk it into blocks’
  3. I’ve got some initial traction, but how do I make money – aka create a sustainable and profitable business model
  4. How do I prioritise what I do, and decide what to focus on – there are so many moving parts
  5. This Lean Startup stuff is interesting, but a bit woolly – how does it relate to product / service development?
  6. How do I set up my own team, and the relationships with advisers and investors, so that we’re all on the same page about iterations, pivots, agile etc.?
  7. What should I be asking early customers when I get out of the building?
  8. How can I turn this insight into offerings which solve customer problems, and use customer empathy to build stuff which people want?
  9. Who is going to want to engage with me – often people want you to have all the answers, and are not convinced about this ‘MVP’ concept…
  10. Who can I talk to – in confidence – about the emotional struggles of entrepreneurship, and help get clarity about what’s next?
  11. I’m worried that people will not take me seriously when I ask for feedback about my early ideas
  12. I feel like I’m reinventing the wheel, where can I find resources which help me make effective decisions when time and money are in short supply
  13. What do I say to people when they ask me to write a business plan – I’m worried that the projections I create will come back to bite me…
  14. How do I develop new ideas and features for my offering, and how will I know which ones to take forward
